GREENHOUSESEP 2016Institute of Contemporary Arts, London
A greenhouse for a fashion show - Lady Rhoda Birley, artist and gardener, is famed for a photograph of her standing in a flower bed at Charleston Manor. Birley inspired Peter Jensen's Spring Summer 2017 collection. Rabble was invited to build the set for his London Fashion Week show on The Mall.
We salvaged an aluminium greenhouse from a South London back garden, whitewashed its skeleton, and exhibited it as a fossil on four concrete plinths in the Institute of Contemporary Arts. An impression - a ghostly memory - of Sidcup, Rhoda and Charleston.
"as the models took their places among the gladioli that decorated the set - a glass-free greenhouse that had been specially transposed from a South London back garden into a Regency room in the ICA - one couldn't help but want to join him there." Vogue, Sept. 2016
